Ruby and Diamond Crescent Moon Brooch

$1,800.00

The rubies totalling 0.7- 0.8 carats, the diamonds totalling 0.3-0.5 carats, no assay marks, Size: 2.7cm

Circa: 1930s

Origin: UK

Metal not tested

Celestial imagery was a fascination in the world of jewellery during the Victorian, Edwardian and Art Nouveau eras. Perhaps it was something mystical, or the sentimentality of superstitions passed down throughout the ages. Reaching for the stars is still a fascination in jewellery design and antique pieces with celestial notions have become harder to find due to their popularity.

This brooch, in the form of a crescent moon, is set alternately with round cut rubies and round brilliant cut diamonds. This piece is not tested but the gold within the setting appears to be white gold. It is small but mighty.
