Enamel mourning ring inscribed “Memory of JA” well preserved and simply set to reflect the sincerity of the piece and its meaning. Mourning rings were made popular after the death of Prince Albert in 1861, when Queen Victoria had a ring made using his picture, initials and black enamel on gold. These rings soon became used to memorialise a loved one all over Europe- using a piece of hair, a photograph or initials.
